WHAT IS JOLT ARTS INC.?

JOLT Sonic & Visual Arts Inc. is a not for profit artist run organization that was initially formed with the following statement of purpose:

"to provide opportunities for musicians and artists to contribute to the development of Australian culture through participation in high calibre cutting edge sonic and visual arts performance based projects artistically directed by James Hullick."

JOLT Arts Inc., artistically directed by sonic and visual artist JAMES HULLICK, provides an event management structure for many artists delivering innovative high class public arts outcomes. In 2007, the JOLT concert projects provided employment to over thirty sonic and visual artists involving performances here and overseas. The success of these projects was the birth place of JOLTArts Inc. in 2008. JOLT Inc. is a not for profit organisation whose core business is "cutting edge sonic and visual art presentation." JOLT is governed by a top class Board of Management, with the Chair being Jim Maitland Hullick OAM - former head of the Local Governments Association in SA (father to James) - and Vice-Chair being Danielle Evans - currently a Senior Lawyer with the Australian Communications and Media Authority. JOLT's Board work for JOLT on a volunteer basis, and it is this spirit of community contribution that is s treasured at JOLT. While JOLT is still a young organisation, projects have been managed in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Cologne, Switzerland and New York. These outcomes point to an organisation that seeks to deliver exciting contemporary arts projects in many contexts, and an organisation that is able to maintain balance whilst in flux.

Currently, JOLT is focused on developing repertoire shows such as JOLT's multimedia show THE NIS which seek to push the boundaries of technology in the arts in ways that arerelevantto contemporary communities.

HUBS: MELBOURNE

2010 will see the launching of JOLT's international offices which we at JOLT refer to as HUBS. The development of international HUBS has seen a shift in JOLT's organisational structure, with JOLT's Melbourne HUB being a 'Home Office' that is responsible for co-ordinating all other HUBS. Every JOLT HUB has it's own Artistic Director, and Hullick (who is Artistic Director for the Melbourne HUB), is responsible for overseeing the activities of JOLT's other Artistic Directors. Each Artistic Director has a large amount of curatorial and administrative control over their specific HUB.

Throughout 2009 information regarding these HUBS will be added to this site. HUBS for SWITZERLAND and THAILAND have already been announced, and we gratefully welcome the new Artistic Directors for these countries: DANIEL BUESS (SWITZERLAND) and PRAPON KUMJIM with PAWIT MAHASARINAND (THAILAND).
