Tom Jackson
clarinettist / saxophonist
Tom Jackson is a London-based clarinettist and saxophonist largely dedicated to the fields of contemporary classical music and free improvisation. He maintains an extensive and eclectic performance schedule and has performed throughout Europe, Australia and Hong Kong, as well as the UK. He is a proud member of Cram Collective (Mumbai and London), Squib Box (London) and One Moment Free Improv (Belgium).
Tom has performed as principal clarinet with many orchestras including New London Sinfonia and British Sinfonietta and National Chamber Orchestra of Wales. He has worked with various contemporary chamber groups such as Apartment House, Lontano and Cardiff New Music Collective, which he co-founded. Tom was a member of the ensemble celebrating Pierrot Lunaire’s 100th anniversary for Non Classical in London. He is an active session musician, playing for albums and live shows. He is currently researching the role of instrumental-cognitive prosthesis and risk in free improvisation towards a PhD at Canterbury Christ Church University.
