BY THE NOISE SCAVENGERS
Sonic Media Show
18-19 November, 8pm
Friday- Saturday
JOLTED Theatre, 342 High St Northcote
The Augmented Hyenas show will see the Noise Scavengers premiere a range of Wearable Interactive Sound and video Controllers (WISC) that are worn and performed with by the artists. The show itself is a surreal exploration of sound, and a reimagining of what it means to be a ‘band’ in Melbourne c. 2022. Rock instruments, wearable sound devices and more are all blended to find new sonic terrains.Noise Scavengers were mentored to make the wearable interactive devices. In May 2022 the group worked with Australian pioneering performance artist Stelarc to make a wearable interactive wristband synthesizer with a built in video camera. Stelarc then performed with the device in June 2022 at JOLTED. JOLT’s interactivity designer and computer programmer Richie Allen and fabricator Ben Merrylees also worked on that project.
