Currently an Honorary Research Fellow at the National Ageing and Research Institute, Dr Barber has for many years served national and local communities through music education. Having been on Faculty at the University of Melbourne and on various education boards, for some 40 + years Dr Barber has helped shaped the dynamic cultural identity by focusing on young and emerging musicians. In recent years Dr Barber has championed the need for a deeper understanding of how cultural engagement can benefit aging communities and individuals with a focus on people with dementia.
