A.M.P - ARTISTS TO THE MOUNTAIN PEAK
ARTISTS TO THE MOUNTAIN PEAK
A.M.P. is an artist workshop and employment program for individual artists who are registered with the NDIS. The goal of A.M.P. is to give artists registered with the NDIS mentoring and paid work in the arts sector. There has been a lot of campaigning by people with disabilities wanting more of a fair go in the arts sector. Hullick Studios and JOLT is delivering on this request from the community. People with disability have very clearly said that they would like to have the dignity of ‘real’ work – work that is not tokenistic or underhanded in some way. A.M.P. is one solution to this situation.
The program includes:
Weekly: 1 on 1 Mentoring with a leading artist
Weekly: A master class led by James Hullick and with guest mentors Once a Year: A seminar week in the mid year holidays.
After consultation, you will be assigned a mentor. You will meet with that mentor for 2.5 hours per week, unless some other arrangement is negotiated.
Master Classes are an essential way that emerging artists learn their craft. The master class is led by an industry leader. Participants and invited mentors (including Hullick) then present their work to each other and discuss how that work can be improved. Master Classes also provide sessions on the techniques and skills required to finish the projects.
Duration 2.5 hours per week, unless some other arrangement is negotiated.
2021 – Dates TBC – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (4 days total)
Each day there is a morning session (10–12pm) and afternoon session (1–3pm). Hullick Studios and JOLT are paying for industry leaders to come in and present their work, build connections for participants, and help participants understand how to run their artist careers. Leaders will be record label CEOs; Distribution Company directors; Publishers; Musicians; Artistic Directors; Curators; Festival Directors; Writers; Visual Artists and so on. This is a very rare opportunity to hear from the people who have made it in the industry and to learn from them. They will also ask you about your projects and help you with them.
